~giving~thanks~

With Thanksgiving just a week away I am finding myself overflowing with gratitude.

I am thankful for the resilience of these blooms. Who knew zinnias would stand up to twenty degree weather? I am so thankful to have their happy faces grace our table.

I am so thankful for my husband. He is an amazing partner and a kind father to our children.

I am thankful for the abundance of warm clothes filling our drawers (and I'm also thankful for that handmade rug my grandmother made).

I am thankful for the handmade items in our home. They keep me company and bring much warmth to this house of ours.

I am thankful for the bounty our garden continues to provide.

I am thankful for the light as it comes through our south facing windows in the late afternoon.

I am thankful to have sorted through our photos from the last few months making a big 'to be printed' folder. With a heart full of love for these beautiful children in my life.

I am thankful for a laughing baby. Baby Oliver has been teething and definitely isn't always laughing these days, but when he is laughing, they are the most beautiful things ever.

And in the coming week, when I think of the things I want to 'get done' during the break, when my lists start to pile up in this cramped head of mine I'll try to release all the 'wants' and with a heart wide open remember just how much i have to give thanks for.

You nailed it with your list. Everyday, there's a lot to be grateful for. And I'm swooning over your grandma's rug.

i love this post. those are such beautiful things to be grateful for. i keep thinking about starting a gratitude journal (i have read several articles now that have stated that there have actually been clinical trials that show that daily gratitude has a positive effect on psychological and physical health--isn't that amazing?), and this post makes me want to do that. and zinnias in november? how amazing!
