The Tree

Can you believe I've never bought a Christmas Tree at a Tree Farm?
It's true.
This was our first time to go out to Sycamore Valley Tree Farm (Locals, there is no website. It's out on 7120 New Harmony Road.)
But it won't be the last time.

The boys had fun running in and out of all the trees.

I had fun watching the boys winding in and out of the trees and looking up at the sky and imagining Jay and I may find a place a bit more out in the country some day.

It always feels good to buy locally. My mom said the price of the trees were about the same as at a big box store. But a big box store doesn't have a nice sign like this one.

December is flying by. With my last craft show of 2011 done this weekend I'm looking forward to a bit of time sitting by our cozy little tree and stitching up some small gifts for the boys. I love hand sewing this time of year.

To capture a bit of these days, to let go of the lists, to do my housework with a grateful heart, to be kind to myself when I run out of patience and am feeling less than grateful, these are my goals going into the week. Hope you have a good one friends.

That's good to know about the tree farm! We got ours last year at Ubelors farm, but this was their last year and the selection wasn't very good. So we found a 'Charley Brown' tree at the Boy scouts.

such good goals. i am trying to focus on gratitude and slowing down this season too, and i'm finding that i'm much happier for it. i've been handsewing every night too and finding that it brings such a measure of peace to my evenings.

I miss living up north where the trees are fresh and last. We cut one last year at a tree farm. It didn't last any longer than the ones we have bought at HEB.

This year we sold out and got a fake tree. I'll admit...I don't miss the needles falling everywhere.

This is a great post, Mandy. I've missed you.

Now that surprises me. I had you pegged for the whole cut down your own tree every year kind of girl all along.

That looks like fun....We only did a tree farm once and my kids were more interested in the ornaments for sale in the shop than the actual trees. Happy stitching!

I haven't either! We buy ours from the local seasonal pop-up tree lot but I would love to go to a farm!
